ABOUT US

"To create an awareness and encourage the arts within the community by promoting education, idea exchange and an exploration of cultural diversity."

This is the mission statement of The Broken Arrow Arts and Humanities Council, an organization that started out as a small group of people and has expanded into a fairly active community organization.

The first events were small gatherings--Art After Hours--showcasing the works of local artists and giving participants a chance to meet the artists and purchase their works.

As the Council grew, it added new events--Tuesdays In The Park and the Lunch Box Series. Both events made arts in Broken Arrow more prominent.

Next, the Council started the Encore Series for special events, including the annual "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," honoring legendary songwriter Ralph Blane, who wrote the title song. Other Encore events have included jazz bands, dance performances, ballet and a partnership with the Broken Arrow Community Playhouse.

In addition, the Council has assisted with community events such as Glory Daze and Lights On in Central Park. Also, the Council was instrumental in securing funding for the bronze Centennial Statue in Centennial Park.
